Sending salutations on the Prophet (Pbuh) within your du’a will make it more powerful it. Imam Ebrahim Surti tells us that there is a sequence to du’a; one should start and end with sending salutations on the Prophet (Pbuh).
Indeed, Allah showers His blessings upon the Prophet, and His angels pray for him. O believers! Invoke Allah’s blessings upon him, and salute him with worthy greetings of peace. (Quran 33:56)
