Imam Ebrahim Surti tells us that the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are so sacred that Allah swears an oath by them when He says in the Quran:

"By the dawn; by the ten nights" (89:1-2)

Swearing an oath by something indicates its importance and great benefit.

Abu Qatadah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about fasting the day of Arafat and he said, “It will expiate the sins of the previous and upcoming years.” Then, the Prophet was asked about fasting the day of Ashura and he said, “It will expiate the sins of the past year.”

The day of Arafah was the Final Speech Of The Prophet ﷺ. It was powerful and comprehensive. In it contained advice for all of mankind. He revealed ﷺ a powerful verse:

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.
