Waltham Forest Council of Mosques Dinner

The Waltham Forest Council of Mosques (WFCOM) welcomed 250 guests from various ethnic and religious backgrounds to its inaugural Eid Dinner at The Pavilion Banqueting Suite (Walthamstow) with the aim of bringing together people of faith and no faiths. The evening was hosted by Mr Irfan Akhter and Ms Nouf Abdulqadar who are members of WFCOM, nasheeds by young Huzaifah Pirbhai and speeches by the Mayor of WF (Cllr Chris Robbins), Mr Harun Khan of Muslim Council of Britain, Ms Heena Khaled (AVOW – Advancing Voices Of Women against Islamophobia), Imam Shakeel Begg (renowned Scholar), Ms Prue Barnes (Senior Executive Headteacher of various Schools including Newport), Mr Abbas Mirza & Mr Simon Steward (Whipps Cross Hospital) all speaking about community cohesion, unity & importance of dialogue. Mr Yusuf Hansa (Chairman of WFCOM) spoke about the contribution of Muslims in the UK and Waltham Forest. WFCOM was also honoured that PC Stuart Outten and his partner accepted an invitation to the Eid Dinner. PC Outten is the brave Police officer who was attacked with a machete on 8th August 2019 in Leyton. An interactive session was presented to get ideas from attendees about what WFCOM should do in the future and also what the attendees themselves can do to contribute. The evening ended with a delicious meal provided by Pavilion Banqueting Suite. It was a successful evening which was made extra special by the new friends and supporters of Waltham Forest Council of Mosques.

Noor Ul Islam (Leyton, East London) in conjunction with Leyton 6th Form College (LSC) held our annual Interfaith Dinner on Wednesday 14th November 2018 to celebrate Interfaith Week at LSC.
The event was hosted by Sultan Ahmed and we were honoured to have speeches from WF Mayor Cllr Sally Littlejohn, Gill Burbridge (Principal of LSC), Tara Khare (WF Hindu Temple), PC Steven MacDonald (WF Faith & Communities Officer), Ted Cooke (SACRE), Imam Zakkaria Sayed (Chaplain at HMP YOI Thamesmead), Carolyn Axtell (Hornbeam JoyRiders) and Haanyah Cassam (student at Eden Girls School) who all shared their thoughts on the importance of strengthening interfaith relations.

Noor Ul Islam Summer Fete Weekend - (July 2018)  

The Noor Ul Islam Annual Summer Fete took place at  "Sir George Monoux College" in Walthamstow.  Despite the hot weather, people turned up and Noor Ul Islam went that extra mile and had a marquee put up to show the England v Sweden World Cup Game on a big screen.  About 6,000 people attended over the two days and enjoyed delicious foods, fun fairs rides and a great atmosphere.

Noor Ul Islam held a dinner event to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. The event, at the Walthamstow Assembly Hall included special guests from Scotland Yard, the local Council and Muslim personalities.
 

Islam Awareness Week Ladies High Tea (May 2016)

Islam Awareness Week (23rd - 29th May) was marked by the ladies of the Women's Advisory Board at Noor Ul Islam by treating ladies in the community to a decadent High Tea. The underlying message was "Whatever our beliefs and religion, we are all united as one community." The event provided a brilliant opportunity to learn, be inspired and connect with others.


Cancer Awareness Week   - A workshop about Cancer -  Noor Ul Islam &   (April 2016)

Noor Ul Islam in association with "Community Health Champion"  presented this workshop to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by cancer through early detection, education, and support services.
 

Forever Smiling Talk by Shaykh Sultan Bilal (Bahrain) (March 2016)
A special Khutbah was given by Shaykh Sultan Bilal from Bahrain on the topic of smiling. Smiling is an effective tool that helps in giving dawah, dissolving tension.
